This small body of believers quickly decided it was destined for more. God gave Pastor Matt a verse from Luke 10:2 – “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Just three months after that first Bible study, Abundant Harvest Church opened its doors with the first official service on Wednesday, June 2, 1999. The first building was located at 42 N. Market Street in Duncannon. A few years after the inception of the church, they also purchased the building next door to use it for classrooms and offices.
We seek to be a voice for justice and compassion in our local community and beyond.

Pastor Matthew Zang was born and raised in Perry County, Pennsylvania. After attending World Harvest Bible College, he returned home to Perry County and planted Abundant Harvest Church at the age of 26. A few years later, he met and married Bethany. In faith, they believed for a child and had Jeremiah in 2011. Pastor Matt served faithfully as Lead Pastor of Abundant Harvest for over 20 years.
Abundant Harvest Church moved locations through the supernatural purchase of the old Duncannon Medical Center. This is our current property. The building was renovated by church members to include an office wing, children’s classrooms, and a sanctuary. Over the years, further work has been done to the property: a new roof and HVAC system, proper storm-water drainage, and site excavation/parking lot expansion in preparation for a future addition.
Believed that God was transitioning them out of leadership at Abundant Harvest and relocating them to Dallas, Texas. While it was sad to see them go, relocating their life and ministry was a testimony of their trust in God and faithfulness to Him. They were released from their roles and in March of 2020, Pastors Tim and Lauren Eshenour were installed as Lead Pastors.
Abundant Harvest is called to build HomeBase. At HomeBase people are activated, equipped, and supported as they step into their God-given role in society. We believe that the local church is the central hub of all Kingdom activity. It is from the church that we receive necessary care from one another and have spiritual oversight from elders. HomeBase works as individuals integrate into the local body of Christ and from this place find their calling and purpose in life.
